Melanie was able to summarise and present the emotional challenges that come with being first time parents, for me it was important for both myself and my partner to understand the reality, not the picture painted by cute advertising campaigns. It helped me to feel prepared for what I was about to transition into and also have a solid toolset to refer to should I need it. I would highly recommend this session to any anxious or uncertain about to be parents. I now have a gorgeous 9 month old boy, Mac.
- Tammy, New mum of one.
I am grateful for attending Melanie's group session. I found the session to be very valuable. It affirmed and motivated me to spend more time on the topics discussed in my own practice as a midwife and childbirth educator. Melanie is inspiring...

I attended this course in two capacities - as a health professional and an expectant mother. I cannot recommend this course highly enough to all expectant parents, and to health professionals involved in their care. This course is comprehensive in all aspects of the perinatal experience and fills the gaping hole in current pre-natal education, addressing social and psychological aspects of new parenthood. Dr Strang's presentation is excellent, understandable, enjoyable, memorable and all the information presented is based on sound research.
- Dr Lois Groves, Berwick Osteopathy
Thank you for a lovely Thursday morning ~what felt like a long chat amongst new & friendly like minded people. This group helped me to see the challenging role a mummy & daddy has ahead of them, but inspired me to do my best to keep true to myself as this ever changing role transforms and continues on ... Thank You Melanie, I truely recommend this to *any *who is serious about being the best they can be for their own little, or big family!

Melanie presents simply and with great care, the topics that no one else does - the important subjects relating to self care and self love as we become parents. Realising that what we experience is shared by many and that by lovingly accepting ourselves in that, and seeking help from others, we can ride this enormous transition with greater ease. Thank you for a most worthwhile morning.
- Emma, Massage Therapist, Ripponlea
The private workshop is well balanced and provides some great tips for upcoming parents. Melanie is a great listener, her calm demeanour and her way of normalising a lot of the things you may feel as future parents reduces anxiety levels and makes you feel more prepared.
-New Parent to be
Melanie is a kind, warm and connected counselor. She has enormous empathy and insight and is quickly able to understand the needs of the client and offer helpful support that has long term benefits.
As first time parents to be, we were apprehensive about our new roles as parents, and nervous to see if we would be up to the job. Melanie has absolutely reassured us and also given us skills and links to resources, to help us along our new journey. We feel so much more excited knowing we truly are ready for this experience. We have learnt a lot about ourselves, each other and how to use our awareness to shape our family into what we'd really like it to be - as well as roll with the changes. It is great to feel so confident before we even have bubba here. Thanks Melanie!

I found that the Well Mum Well Baby Workshop offered information from a perspective that other pregnancy and childbirth education and books skim over. It helped me to realise that I wasn't alone in sometimes feeling less than blissful about everything, and that there is help out there for young mums who feel like they have to cope on their own.
- Susannah, mum of one
Well Mum Well Baby was a really interesting presentation that was practical and informative.
I liked that there was much variety in the way things were presented and that it covered topics
not traditionally covered in antenatal education.
- Viki, mum of three
I feel more prepared emotionally and practically to have my baby now. I feel as though the pressure has been taken off me to be the perfect mum- I am empowered to look after my baby
the way I see fit- there is no right or wrong. I recommend this course to any new mum!
- Jan, mum of one
I was very impressed with Melanie's presentation. Having worked with new mums and baby's
for years, I see a big hole in education that prepares mums for the reality of motherhood. This wonderful course spells out the many different aspects of becoming a mother and allows women to see that their are many variations of normal. The more woman that are exposed to this information, the gentler the transition into motherhood will be. I shall recommend it to all my clients.
- Lael - Calmbirth Practitioner, Doula
Did this course give me answers as to why I find it a struggle to do chores all day? No it didn’t. What it did do was make me understand it. It helped to discuss, share and ponder the stories, personal journeys and hardships fellow mums in the course and indeed Melanie herself faced and it made me realise I’m not alone, there are mums out there who cope better and indeed worse than me. It’s not a competition.
I now look at this course and think it has actually given me something more valuable than any instant potion or happy pill. It’s given me perspective. It might not seem like much but a bit of perspective is all I need.

I recommend this workshop to expectant and new parents. I think the balance of information and opportunity to share experiences was great. It was beneficial to hear other mums' stories and to validate my own experiences. Thanks for the opportunity Melanie.

WellMum WellBaby is an informative and thoughtful workshop touching on many unspoken emotional issues that often surround pregnancy, birth and beyond. It is great preparation for expectant parents concerned for the journey ahead or for new parents who may be struggling with the transition to parenthood and all it holds for them. Melanie builds confidence and empowers participants by providing them with valuable knowledge and skills to make this transition easier and the journey more special.

Hi Melanie, thanks so much for for the wonderful lecture last week. It has really spurred me on even further to incorporate this area into my practice given what seems to be a bit of a gap in the system.
- Catherine Lotrionte - Psychologist
Melanie's workshop fills an important gap that many childbirth education programs don't by addressing the important issues and challenges surrounding early parenthood - warts and all! As a childbirth educator, I found the workshop very valuable and I will definitely incorporate what I learned with my own clients.
-Tanya - Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator
This workshop is great opportunity for both parents and professionals to learn about the range of emotions during parenthood and how to manage them. Many of these topics are not covered in pre- natal classes but they are as important as the physical preparation for parenthood. Melanie's presents with both personal and professional experience which makes the workshop fun and interesting yet informative.
-Ash - Psychology Student
Its amazing to watch the 'lightbulbs' come on and to see the communication starting just with those few short exercises that Melanie taught me. Until that moment for many parents you can see how they haven't thought about these changes at all and what impact this may have on their relationship and emotional wellbeing. And its so lovely to see the positive change starting. I really feel it is so important to start before birth, and have had some recent feedback from a couple was that the stress that they found was compounding during pregnancy between them was lessened and the course brought them back together and that they felt really connected and ready for the birth! Which is wonderful to hear, so I hope couples continue with the exploration and discussion and seek out your course after (or even before) birth.
